Overview

When you've got a tough job to do, you need a tough mate to help you out. The latest Navaras are rugged enough and powerful enough to take on anything you've got. Interior

Inside, you'll find the Navara is as practical and functional as it is outside. But just because you're working hard doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy a few creature comforts. All models come standard with power windows, cruise control, remote central locking, air-conditioning, an audio system with MP3 compatability, auxiliary input, and Bluetooth handsfree phone system. The ST and ST-X models kick it up a notch with features like a 6 stack in dash CD player and a Bluetooth handsfree phone system that can all be controlled via the steering wheel. The dual-zone climate control in the ST-X 550 and ST-X Dual Cab models makes sure the cabin is just as comfortable for your passengers as it is for you.

Although the interior is comfortable and stylishly designed, it's made tough and easy to clean if you happen to bring some of the outside in. No matter which Navara you end up choosing, you'll enjoy a very comfortable ride. So, whether you're on a building site or on a highway, you'll definitely be able to go hard.

The Navara just might be the most versatile worker you've ever had around. For a start, it's full of clever storage compartments like a large dual level lockable glovebox, centre console (excluding Single Cab model) and centre dashboard storage tray, so you won't have your stuff sliding all over the floor. The ST-X Dual Cab models also have a rear seat to offer you greater flexibility, while the ST-X 550 adds a removable rear under-seat storage compartment with net cover to keep things safely out of the way. The King Cab models include two fold up seats in the back if you need to run a couple more blokes somewhere.

Exterior

Of course with a Navara, what you can get in the back is just as important as what you can get inside. On Dual Cab and ST-X King Cab Pick Up models the rear tray bed is long, deep and wide to provide a large and versatile load carrying space. The RX Single Cab, RX and ST-X King Cab and new RX Dual Cab Cab Chassis models give you the option to carry your own customised tray to suit the job at hand. The new ST-X 550, ST-X and ST Dual Cab models feature an ingenious Utili-Track that makes loading simple, quick and safe. You can move the heavy-duty cleats along channels to wherever you need a tie-down point. The ST Dual Cab has two channels; the ST-X 550 and ST-X Dual Cab is fitted with five. Lock the cleats into place and you're able to carry just about any kind of load without it moving or tipping over. Now that's smart.

Performance

There are a lot of jobs to get done out there and who better to do them than Australia's most powerful tradie. At the head of the pack is Australia's only V6 dual cab, the new Nissan Navara ST-X 550. This tough-as-nails worker is up for anything with 550Nm of torque and 170kW of power. At the same time, the ST-X 550 offers excellent fuel economy. Then there are three other engines in the Navara range providing the fuel economy and lowdown torque that diesel engines are known for. The ST-X Dual Cab with 140kW and 450Nm of torque, the 126kW common rail turbo-diesel available in Dual Cab 4x4 and King Cab variants and the 106kW turbodiesel Dual Cab 4x2 and Single Cab 4x4. If you prefer petrol, the 4.0 litre V6 petrol engine, available on the ST-X Dual Cab, delivers a massive 198kW of power. With all these choices there is sure to be a Navara to suit your needs.

Navara is justifiably famous for its 4WD ability and towing power. In fact, all Navara 4x4 models are capable of pulling a massive 3,000kg (trailer with brakes). The Navara's dashboard 4WD rotary switch makes it easy to select from three driving modes. 2WD High, for normal dry conditions, sends power to the rear wheels only. 4WD High locks the transfer case to split drive equally front and rear when tackling more demanding conditions. While 4WD Low is for serious off-road conditions like deep mud or sand. The adjustable 4WD also comes in handy for steep climbing or when you need maximum engine braking while descending. At the same time, the Navara offers a level of ride comfort more expected from a wagon than a workhorse, partly thanks to the way it's constructed. A strong high tensile steel ladder chassis with welded cross members offers less vibration and a reassuring solidity. While a highly effective suspension system provides impressive agility. On or offroad, you'll find that the Navara feels like it knows exactly what it's doing.

Safety

Although Navaras are as tough as they come, that doesn't mean we've scrimped on including safety features to protect you, your workmates and your family. All Navaras come with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), driver and front passenger SRS airbags, front and rear crumple zones and door side intrusion bars. Choose a new ST-X 550 or another ST-X Dual Cab model and you'll also get driver and front passenger front and side impact SRS airbags and front to rear SRS curtain airbags; giving you the protection of six airbags in total. Plus three-point seatbelts throughout as well as three child seat anchorages. The ST-X Dual Cab diesel versions also come with Vehicle Dynamic Control(VDC) with Active Brake Limited Slip Differential (ABLS). VDC, also known as Electronic Stability Control, compares the intention of the driver with the current behaviour of the vehicle and selectively brakes individual wheels and controls engine power to keep the car on its intended path and prevent roll-over. Whether you're working hard or playing hard, you'll be doing it in comfort and safety.
